Have you ever heard of. . .

Acai berries?! There is an accent mark and a sqiggly mark on the word but I don't know how to make those. :) Acai is pronounced ah-sigh-E. Acai berries are grown in Brazil on what looks somewhat like a palm tree. These berries are supposed to be super healthy and loaded with antioxidants. Well, I ran into a friend on campus this week who had just tried an "Acai Bowl" when visiting friends in LA. . .we made plans to made something similar together this morning. Here's the super easy, quick, and amazingly yummy recipe:
4 acai smoothie packets (sold as 1 package in the frozen foods section at the Whole Foods store. . .a little pricey but worth the new experience)
granola
1 banana
honey
You simply blend the acai berries together in a blender. Pour into a cute bowl, and sprinkle granola over the top. Slice bananas and cover the granola in a decorative pattern. Drizzle honey over the top and dig in. This makes a nice mid-morning snack for two people. Yay for yummy new fruits and enjoying a special treat with a friend! (I'm trying to post the pictures we took but blogger isn't letting me right now - grr. . . I'll try again soon!)

i haven't heard of acai berries, but your recipe sounds yummy and healthy. i wonder if this would work with blueberries or raspberries?

Hum. . .it would be different because the acai smoothe packets are just that - smooth. :) that is, no seeds. But using other berries still sounds yummy and healthy so go for it!
